Remembering August 4th
On this day, we pause to remember one of the most tragic events in Lebanon’s recent history — the Beirut Port explosion that took place on August 4th, 2020.
Described as the largest non-nuclear explosion in modern times, the blast claimed the lives of over 200 people, injured thousands more, and left a profound scar on the heart of the Lebanese nation. Homes were shattered, businesses destroyed, and countless families were left grieving and displaced. The impact of the explosion continues to be felt deeply across communities in Beirut and beyond.
We stand in solidarity with everyone affected by this tragedy. Today, we honour the memory of the victims and extend our heartfelt sympathy to their families, friends, and all those still coping with the aftermath.
Lebanese students show remarkable strength, resilience, and ambition in the face of hardship. It is our privilege to support them on their journey to a brighter future through education. We are committed to continuing this mission with compassion and care, always remembering where they come from and what they have overcome.
To all those affected — we remember with you. We stand with you. And we are here for you.
