IY1 is an assisted first year offered at some universities through a foundation provider, it bridges the gap between high school and year 1, and is perfect for international students who do not quite meet the entry requirements for direct year 1. Direct Year 1 is the first year of the university undergraduate degree thought directly by the university. Both programs take 3 years to complete.
Foundation is designed for international students who do not meet the entry requirements for direct entry. You can only skip it if you have taken full academic qualifications in high school, such as A levels, APs or IB Diploma. Discuss your options with your counsellor.
Most engineering courses require you to study physics in high school, in addition to Maths. Although rare, some pathways can make an exception, ask your counsellor for advice.
Whilst many postgraduate programmes require a CV for application, not all will ask you to have work experience. Depending on your course of interest and targeted university, you can often apply with only your undergraduate degree.
Each has its own advantages. Whilst on campus student accommodation provides a better sense of community and an easier connection to fellow students and campus facilities, private accommodation offers more space and privacy. The perks vary between locations and universities, explore all options before making your final decision.
