In addition to the legendary match where Aston Villa beat West Ham with 2-1 score, the occasion was also a celebration of our partnership with CEG ONCAMPUS. In a social gathering following the game we re-connected with one of our Alumni. Abdallah Elhachach applied with us from Lebanon in 2023 and completed his Foundation in Engineering and Physics with ONCMPUS Aston. Eager to find out more about Abdallah’s life in the UK, we invited him to share his experience.
From Lebanon to Birmingham
In an insightful interview, Abdallah tells us his story, revealing how Global Study UK helped him make his decision to study in the UK. “The UK was a very spontaneous choice actually, my mum saw a Global Study UK post on Facebook and encouraged me to try it out”.
Abdallah reflects on his big step of moving abroad for his studies – “It’s a very character building experience”. He advises future students starting their own academic journey to make lots of new friends, keep records of their memorable experiences and explore their new environment as much as possible.
A story of Ambition and Dedication
Abdallah’s story is an inspiring journey showcasing how ambition and dedication are certain to lead you to greatness. From learning independency to becoming a founding member of the ONCAMPUS Society at Aston University and winning an Award for his contributions – Abdallah sets an example for international students aspiring to pursue their education in the UK.
“I am open to the future and I am taking proactive steps to figure it all out” – Abdallah tells us about his outlook on his future, proud of all the skills he already had the opportunity to develop throughout his foundation programme. Now as a first-year student on the Beng Mechanical Engineering programme at Aston University, he is hoping to do a placement and continue learning through practical hands-on projects offered on his course.

Describing his experience as “Transformative, enriching and eye-opening”, Abdallah’s story is a testament to the boundless opportunities that studying in the UK can unlock.
